Introduction

Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) have been playing a significant role in training and empowerment of unemployed youth in the last several years by creating self- employment opportunities for rural poor unemployed youth.

Union RSETIs sponsored by Union Bank of India have been offering skill development training programs to the rural unemployed youth for enabling them to take up self-employment business/ventures which are culturally relevant and meeting local requirements, have low input cost and high returns and are self –sustainable.

In all 30 RSETIs have been sponsored & set up by Union Bank of India spread across 8 states viz. Andhra Pradesh- 9, Bihar-2, Karnataka- 2, Kerala-3, Madhya Pradesh-3, Odisha-2, Telangana- 2, and Uttar Pradesh- 7.

Union RSETIs have been offering training programs to the rural unemployed youth under various courses such as beautician training, mobile phone repairing, tailoring, repairing of electrical appliances, animal husbandry, computer training, various agriculture related programs, PMEGP etc.

The Union RSETIs extend hand holding support to the trained candidates for starting their own ventures and regularly follows-up with the successfully trained candidates till they are settled. Union Bank has also been extending the need-based credit linkage to the successfully trained candidates for setting up self-employment ventures/businesses.

Cumulatively since inception till 31.03.2022, Union RSETIs have trained 2,15,233 rural unemployed youth of which, over 1,57,897 have successfully settled with an average settlement of 73.36% as against the benchmark of 70%. Further, of the 2,15,233 trained, 1,54,912 are under BPL category with ratio of 71.97% against the benchmark of 70%. Also, of said total trained candidates, 1,44,561 are women candidates with ratio of 67.16%.

Cumulatively since inception till 31.03.2022, 73,065 trained candidates have been credit linked with ratio of 46.27% against the benchmark of 50%.

Out of 30 RSETIs, 29 have secured “AA” grading & one RSETI has secured “BA” grading as on 31.3.2022.
