The salient features of the scheme are as under:

  • These are accounts with relaxed KYC, with a minimum document requirement of self attested address proof and photograph.
  • Total credit in such accounts should not exceed one lakh rupees in a year.
  • Maximum balance in the account should not exceed Rs.50000/- at any time.
  • The total of debits by way cash withdrawals and transfers will not exceed Rs.10000/- in a month.
  • Foreign remittance cannot be credited to Small Accounts without completing normal KYC formalities.
  • Small accounts are valid for a period of 12 months initially which may be extended by another 12 months if the person submits proof of having applied for an Officially Valid Document.
  • Small Accounts can only be opened at CBS linked branches of banks or at such branches where it is possible to manually monitor the fulfillments of the conditions.

Note: All accounts opened in BSBDA/BSBDS scheme may be provided with overdraft facility up to Rs 5000/-, subject to Policy and discretion of the Bank and credit history of the individual customer / Account holder
